Kay Elliott

Kay Elliott, J.D., LLM, M.A., has coordinated the Certificate in Conflict Resolution program for Texas Woman’s University for eleven years, teaching Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Family Mediation, Arbitration, and Negotiation. As a Texas Wesleyan University School of Law coordinator, she has lectured on Advanced ADR, Mediation, Family Mediation, Client Counseling, and Negotiation for eighteen years, while coaching national championship teams in Negotiation, International Negotiation, and International On-Line Negotiation, and regional championship teams in Client Counseling and Representation in Mediation. Ms. Elliott has arbitrated and mediated over 1,900 cases since 1982, and trains organizations (Texas Peer Mediation and Special Education Departments, Asian Judicial Institute, Federal Reserve Bank) in conflict management. Ms. Elliott is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, Past President of the Dallas Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution (2007), a Founding Member of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable, a former Council Member of the ADR Section of the State Bar of Texas (SBOT), a TMCA Credentialed Distinguished Mediator, and serves on the Boards of the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association, Tarrant County Association of Mediators (TCAM), Ft. Worth City Mediation Project, and the North Texas Conflict Resolution Conference (founder). She has published many articles on conflict resolution and is a regular columnist for four newsletters: SBOT - ADR Section, the Texas Association of Mediators, the Tarrant County Bar (ADR Section Chair) and TCAM. With Frank Elliott she co-edited the State Bar of Texas Handbook on Alternative Dispute Resolution, (3rd Ed. 2003) and co-authored her latest book, Simple Dispute Resolution: A Handbook of Settlement Science Solutions (2008).

FRANK ELLIOTT

Frank Elliott has taught and written about evidence, Texas civil procedure, and alternate dispute resolution for fifty-one years, including forty-one at law schools-nineteen at the University of Texas, three at Texas Tech University, and nineteen at Texas Wesleyan University. He served as Dean at both Texas Tech and Texas Wesleyan. He has been Assistant Attorney General of Texas, Briefing Attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas, Parliamentarian of the Texas Senate, Research Director for the Texas Constitutional Revision Commission, and President of the Southwestern Legal Foundation. He served two tours of duty in the Army, one as a tank platoon leader in Korea, and one as a visiting professor at the Judge Advocate General’s School. He is retired from the Army Reserve in the rank of Colonel. He is a life member of the American Law Institute, is a Life Fellow of the American and Texas Bar Foundations, is the namesake for the Elliott Inn of the international legal fraternity of Phi Delta Phi at Texas Wesleyan University, and appears in the New Mexico Military Institute Alumni Hall of Fame.
